Wayfair is redefining the way customers buy online and one of the key pillars of that strategy is to create a truly differentiated customer experience for large parcel items (e.g., couches, vanities).  To enable this differentiated experience, Wayfair is investing heavily to create the first-ever national large parcel supply chain all the way to the consumer’s home.  This is an exciting, fast-paced, and high-visibility initiative and we are looking for leaders who can help disrupt the status quo and redefine an industry.

Wayfair is looking for an entrepreneurial, driven and analytical manager to build and execute a logistics team for our final mile delivery.  The ideal candidate has a proven record of effectively driving results in a fast-paced and rapidly growing company.  This role will be responsible for understanding and developing an approach to maintaining a new fleet of delivery fleet vehicles in compliance with all state regulations and quality standards. Prior experience with DOT regulations and trucking industry is a plus but not required.  The candidate must be a self-starter who is able to design and build out a systematic way to store all necessary information in an efficient way. As the program grows, this individual will be responsible for finding cost savings in the driver and truck operations as well as reducing pain points for the team.  Due to the highly cross-functional nature of the role, this person must possess strong business acumen and be comfortable building rapport with and delivering updates to diverse audiences.  The ideal candidate has experience driving results in a matrix organization, where communication, influencing others and prioritization are as valued as much as project execution and opportunity identification. 

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Develop a brand-new function to support one of the most important initiatives at Wayfair to help us efficiently obtain and house necessary information for DOT regulations
  • Create a scalable system that can cover 40+ field sites while leveraging technology to stay efficient and productive
  • Partner closely with field team to gather all information, create streamlined ways of communication and identify process improvement and cost cutting opportunities
  • Identify hiring needs and help recruit, screen and train new team members
  • Move aggressively and quickly in a startup environment that leverages the resources of Wayfair
  • Pivot as needed to address unanticipated challenges and complexity in the business model
  • Monitor and regularly report performance trends and improvements to management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree and MBA, or equivalent experience
  • Track record of taking on big challenges and delivering despite obstacles and limited resources
  • Management experience including hiring and training a team
  • Must have strong business acumen and demonstrated senior presence
  • Articulate and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to hit the ground running – a confident, entrepreneurial self-starter
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in business and data analytics, Excel
