Competitive Strategy Data Analyst, Exclusive Brands

Wayfair’s Exclusive Brands Operations team needs highly motivated and analytically-minded leaders to help continue to grow Wayfair’s Exclusive Brands. At its core, Wayfair’s Exclusive Brands team ensures that strategic branding and content objectives are met through analysis of large ambiguous data sets. Analysts accomplish this through excellent critical thinking, continued innovation, and strong leadership. This role will challenge you to derive strategic actions, set a strong example for more junior team members, work cross-functionally to execute process and data improvements, and develop new analytical techniques to understand the effectiveness of Wayfair’s competitive strategies. Strong candidates will be excited about thinking critically about business strategy, analyzing large sets of data, and collaborating with a cross-functional group of business partners on high-impact initiatives.

Example Projects:

  • Evaluate the strategic benefits and opportunity costs of making changes to product content (image, copy, etc.) and branding
  • Develop a product sampling strategy to holistically represent the breadth of the Exclusive Brands catalog
  • Work cross functionally with Merchandising, Business Intelligence, brand-building, supplier-focused, and other stakeholders to execute on strategic actions derived from data analysis

What you will do:

  • Lead high-visibility projects against KPIs key to Wayfair’s continued business success
  • Be solution oriented and able to formulate and execute a plan using an ambiguous idea while maintaining sound decision making
  • Drive data analysis and effectively communicate findings and performance metrics to derive meaningful actions aligned with Exclusive Brands’ strategic goals
  • Use data and creativity to identify and advocate for innovative strategic improvements
  • Stay organized while pivoting and refining strategies as priorities evolve over time
  • Be a leader in the Exclusive Brands Operations department who helps develop the strategy to move your team and our department forward

Job Requirements:

  • Track record that indicates high potential for fast growth
  • Willing to dive deep to obtain a strong understanding of business strategy and bottom line goals
  • Structured and logical thinker with an affinity for data and intellectual curiosity
  • Strong verbal and written communicator able to operate clearly in an ambiguous environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel required and prior experience or an interest in learning SQL
  • Technical background or orientation (experience with SQL or R is a plus)
  • Bachelor’s degree from top-tier school, ideally in a quantitative field (math, economics, statistics, physics, engineering, etc.)
  • 3-5+ years’ experience in a relevant professional field (management consulting or other professional services a plus)
