Job Description

Software Engineer III (Storefront/SF Project & Service) for Wayfair LLC in Boston, MA to collaborate with product owners to perform e-commerce software engineering across multiple platforms; develop scalable solutions and deploy changes to production several times a day; coordinate execution among multiple engineers, providing training and mentoring as needed; design and develop performant PHP and JavaScript code; contribute technical and procedural improvements across our engineering ecosystem; contribute to architectural and code review discussions; demonstrate expertise in debugging and writing code to fix critical bugs; work closely with client-side technology teams (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to create next-generation features; and perform database design, development, performance optimization, and data ETL in a SQL environment.  Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Management, Engineering  or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus two (2) years of experience performing PHP and SQL full stack development or, alternatively, a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience as noted above. One year of experience must include: Performing web development and full-stack programming using PHP, JavaScript, JQuery and SQL to ensure cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility; performing scripting using Python and Shell scripting; performing version control using GIT and SVN; performing design and development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript to create scalable applications; designing back-end applications using PHP; employing engineering and optimization best practices regarding frontend web standards, code maintainability, page rendering, and browser performance; defining test plans and performing unit testing; performing SQL database development including designing, queries, triggers and stored procedures, performance tuning, and performing data ETL; utilizing Jenkins to build jobs for data processing; and interfacing with business product leaders and engineers to gather requirements and translate requirements into system design.
