Associate Buyer, Buying Teams at Wayfair

We are seeking analytical, creative, and self-motivated individuals to join our Buying teams. We have multiple openings across the business on the following teams:

In each of these roles, you will work with external partners and internal cross-functional teams to advance the category strategy with a creative angle to fuel growth of the business. You will gain exposure to a large group of key suppliers, negotiate favorable business terms for participation, develop innovative promotional strategies to drive results, and assist in category level analysis.

To be successful in this role, you must be a self-starter with passion for product and a creative eye. You will work on a fast-paced team and see real-time material impact on the business. You must have an interest in innovating to solve business problems creatively and a willingness to hit the ground running.

  • Develop & drive a business strategy that has material impact on growth
  • Collaborate frequently with other departments (Category Management, Creative, Operations, and Pricing) to drive revenue and profits across entire catalog, as well as maximize efficiency and communication
  • Analyze performance and internal data to identify areas of opportunity
  • Build & maintain industry expertise; analyze competitor offering and keep abreast of trends and new product ideas
  • Create strategic supplier account plans; expand upon existing supplier relationships
  • Fiercely negotiate for favorable buying terms with suppliers (selection, price, and quantity)
  • Potentially travel to tradeshows to build supplier relationships, identify category trends and see product in person.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree with a strong academic record
  • 6 months - 3 years post-graduate experience
  • E-commerce, retail merchandising, or other relevant experience
  • Ability to work at a fast pace and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to pivot quickly when required
  • Ability to manage and prioritize projects, and to delegate tasks appropriately
  • Articulate and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Creative and innovative problem-solving skills - dissect and determine root causes of problems and implement solutions
  • Sense of humor/great attitude—we are a hard-working team in an open seating environment
  • Hungry to produce and execute against category goals
  • Analytical thinker who looks for (and finds) answers in the data
  • Strong knowledge of Excel
